# womensretreat.guide

Site grounding for agents without the womensretreat.guide repository: its seven charter files, unchanged except that headings sit two levels lower and every term id the pinned version defines, in the frontmatter blocks too, is followed by its label from the pinned version. The YAML blocks are therefore for reading, not parsing; the repo files are the source.

### BRAND

#### Name and entity
Women's Retreat Guide, published by Thomas Prommer. Entity home: https://womensretreat.guide/en/about/ (`about.manifest.json`). Contact comms@flywheel.bz.

#### Promise
A candid friend who asks how you want to feel, then tells you plainly what a retreat costs, includes and asks of you, so you can speak to a host with the right questions.

#### Personality
The caregiver, with an explorer streak. Candid, warm and unhurried: starts from how the reader wants to feel, then gets plain about cost, inclusions, room sharing and limits. It uses no empowerment slogans and makes no healing claims.

#### Visual pointers
Locked direction "Soft Landing": see `design/tokens.json`, `DESIGN.md` and `design/DIRECTION.md`. Rounded pastel blocks, Fraunces SOFT and Nunito, a mood picker that suggests reading categories only.

#### Do / Don't
Do: answer first, then add a "this suits you if" block and a "questions to ask the host" list. Do: name what is included, room sharing and cancellation terms. Do: label empty inventory and pending review. Do: cite medical bodies on postpartum, grief and menopause pages.
Don't: use goddess, divine feminine, "reclaim your power" or "me-time". Don't: promise healing or emotional outcomes. Don't: invent reviews or listings. Don't: show affiliate urgency.

### VOICE: Women's Retreat Guide (womensretreat.guide)

> Loaded by /humanizer (Step 0) and the content publishing gate (drafting Step 1
> + humanizer Step 3). If absent, both fall back to generic mode.

#### 1. Identity & Register
- Voice owner / who speaks: Women's Retreat Guide editors, second person to the reader, we for editorial method
- Register: brand
- Language/locale: en (US English); other locales in section 9
- One-line essence: "A candid friend who asks how you want to feel, then tells you plainly what a retreat costs, includes and asks of you."

#### 2. Audience
- Primary audience: mixed (women 25 to 60 booking a retreat for themselves, solo or with friends)
- Reader's job-to-be-done: find a retreat that matches a need (rest, movement, a life change) at a price and place that works
- Assume they know: yoga basics, that retreats vary widely in price
- Always explain: inclusions, room sharing, daily schedule, fitness level needed, cancellation terms, what 'women-only' means at that retreat

#### 3. Tone Axes (mark where this voice sits)
- Formal ────●── Casual
- Authority ────●── Peer
- Serious ──●──── Playful
- Concise ──●──── Expansive
- Default editorial_track: factual

#### 4. Person, POV & Cadence
- Person: second person (you); we only for how the guide checks listings
- Sentence rhythm: warm, medium-length sentences; one short sentence for the practical point
- Paragraph length: 2-4 sentences
- Structural tics to keep: answer first; a 'this suits you if' block; a 'questions to ask the host' list
- Structural tics to avoid: empowerment slogans, sisterhood clichés, gendered pastel adjectives

#### 5. Lexicon
- Preferred terms: retreat, host, package, shared room, private room, schedule, women-led, what's included
- Banned phrases (beyond humanizer's generic list): goddess, divine feminine, reclaim your power, me-time, pamper yourself, girls' getaway, self-care journey, heal your wounds, transformative
- Capitalization & spelling rules: Costa Rica, Bali, Tuscany, Ayurveda (capitalized), postpartum (one word), US English
- Domain-jargon level: low; define Ayurveda, breathwork, sound bath on first use

#### 6. E-E-A-T / Experience Claims (anchors gate Step 7)
- Authentic experience this voice can claim: None personal until a named author with real retreat experience is assigned. No 'I went' or 'we stayed' lines.
- Named author + bio source: TBD by Tom; 'Women's Retreat Guide editors' until a real author is named
- Quantified credential for bios: TBD with the real author; never invent
- Citation posture: Link host or retreat pages for prices, inclusions and policies with access dates. On postpartum, grief and menopause pages, cite medical bodies for any health statement and make no healing claims.
- Original-data hooks this voice owns: median package price and share of women-only listings by region once the directory database has listings; results of the 'how do you want to feel' picker (anonymous counts)
- "What I got wrong" angle: Where it fits, name the booking mistake (a 'women's retreat' that is mixed-gender outside classes, a 6am schedule on a rest retreat).

#### 7. Gold-Standard Examples (few-shot anchor)
- Example A (provisional, from the strategy sample for /en/healing-retreats-women/postpartum-retreats/; replace with a published paragraph once live): "A postpartum retreat is a short stay, usually a few nights, where a new mother rests, eats prepared meals and gets practical support while someone else handles the day. Some welcome the baby and include night help, others are for the mother alone. Before you book, ask whether the baby can come, who is on staff overnight and what their training is, and whether feeding support is included. A retreat is rest and support, not medical care. If you feel persistently low, anxious or unlike yourself after the birth, talk to your doctor or midwife before planning a trip."
  - Why on-voice: answer first, concrete questions, a clear care boundary

#### 8. Anti-References (do NOT sound like)
- Instagram retreat-host captions
- Goop-style wellness copy with health claims
- Generic AI listicles of 'best retreats for women'

#### 9. Other languages
Voice is authored in English. Each language version is written natively for its market (handover 6.6), not translated sentence by sentence. Machine assist only through DeepL.
- de: Native German. Use "du": the German yoga and women's retreat scene writes informally, and the Soft Landing design reads personal. Pages on grief, postpartum and menopause keep "du" but slow the pace and drop exclamation marks. Prefer "Auszeit" and "Retreat" as the market uses both.
- es: Native Spanish. Use "tú". Write for Spain and Latin America without regional slang; destination pages for Costa Rica and Mexico may use Latin American usage.
- fr: Native French. Use "vous" (French wellness copy stays formal even when warm). "Retraite" for retreat.
- pt: Native Brazilian Portuguese, "você". "Retiro" for retreat. Pages about Portugal destinations written for Portuguese readers.

### STRATEGY

#### Mission
We help women who are choosing a retreat understand the formats, compare cost, inclusions and limits, and prepare the questions to ask a host before they book.

#### Positioning
Depth first: plain guides on cost, inclusions, room sharing, schedule and cancellation, against marketplaces that sell packages and hosts who write captions. Practitioner access second: the "questions to ask the host" lists carry what a host will not volunteer. We concede breadth of inventory, because the directory is empty until listings are verified.

#### Audiences
Retreat bookers: women aged roughly 25 to 60 booking a retreat for themselves, solo or with friends, who need to match a need (rest, movement, a life change) to a place and a price. They know yoga basics. They do not know what is included or what "women-only" means at a given retreat. Source: `briefs/strategy.md` ICP a (an assumed default pending Tom's review), `VOICE.md` section 2.

#### Competitors
Retreat marketplaces such as BookRetreats and Bookyogaretreats. Retreat host sites and Instagram captions. A sister site, retreatfinder.guide, overlapped on "wellness retreats for women" (briefs/strategy.md Risks). The split is settled: this site owns the women-specific cluster, and retreatfinder.guide holds its ten women pages back (retreatfinder.guide `briefs/HOLD.md`, set 2026-09-17). Generic "best retreats for women" lists.

#### What we will not do
No healing, medical or emotional outcome claims. No invented reviews, listings or availability. No booking, medical advice or financial guidance (`PRODUCT.md`). No affiliate links, ad slots or listing fees until Tom confirms, and no affiliate links on postpartum, grief or menopause pages (`briefs/strategy.md`).

#### Bets for the horizon
1. Pass editorial review on the planned guides in five languages and the launch gate so the site can leave noindex (moves pages_indexed).
2. Verify the first directory listings with check dates so the directory is no longer empty (moves content_engaged).
3. Earn "wellness retreats for women" and "yoga retreats for women" with the choosing guides (moves gsc_clicks).

### AUDIENCE

#### Retreat bookers
Women, often travelling solo or with a friend, who have decided to spend time on a retreat and are choosing where to go. The trigger is booking time off or a birthday or milestone. ### MONETIZATION

#### Revenue model
No revenue is live. `briefs/strategy.md` (option a, an assumed default pending Tom) lists retreat marketplace affiliate links (BookRetreats, Tripaneer and Bookyogaretreats) and display ads, all marked "not active until Tom confirms". Every line below is an idea and carries no number.

#### Disclosure rules
Plain disclosure near each link ("we earn a commission if you book", FTC Endorsement Guides). Editorial choosing guides stay free of links. One quiet link per listing. Source: `briefs/strategy.md` Compliance and Brand risk.

#### Not monetised
No affiliate links on postpartum, grief or menopause pages at launch. No booking urgency copy. Affiliate copy cannot promise outcomes. Source: `briefs/strategy.md`, `PRODUCT.md`.

#### BookRetreats affiliate, listing modules
An idea. `briefs/strategy.md` cites tiered commission and a 3-month cookie from the program help page; that page was not read in this session, so the status is assumed and no payout or cookie value is recorded.

#### Tripaneer and Bookyogaretreats affiliate
An idea. Terms are quoted in `briefs/strategy.md` but were not read in this session; no payout is recorded.

#### Display ads on guide pages
An idea only. `briefs/strategy.md` names ad networks with traffic minimums; none is met or applied for.

### KPI

#### Why these metrics
pageview_recorded is the number an editorial site is run on, and no conversion or verified listing exists yet, so reach is the primary. gsc_clicks, gsc_impressions and avg_position show how the retreat destination and format queries are doing. content_engaged shows whether the choosing guides are read. newsletter_subscribed and affiliate_clicked stay enabled from the editorial-traffic template for later use and for the affiliate ideas in MONETIZATION.md. crawl_errors and pages_indexed are the guardrails across five languages.

#### Reading guide
Weekly pageview_recorded against the `(site)` value target in kpi-mgmt once the owner sets one: no target exists yet and this file does not propose one. Rising gsc_impressions with a flat gsc_clicks and a poor avg_position means the pages are found but not chosen. Rising pageview_recorded with a flat content_engaged means the traffic is not reading. A rise in crawl_errors or a fall in pages_indexed overrides every other reading.

#### Review cadence
Quarterly, with the 12-month bets in STRATEGY.md.
