# indoorgolfsimulator.guide

Site grounding for agents without the indoorgolfsimulator.guide repository: its seven charter files, unchanged except that headings sit two levels lower and every term id the pinned version defines, in the frontmatter blocks too, is followed by its label from the pinned version. The YAML blocks are therefore for reading, not parsing; the repo files are the source.

### BRAND

#### Name and entity
Indoor Golf Simulator Guide (indoorgolfsimulator.guide), founded and published by Thomas Prommer (AGENTS.md decision 2026-09-19). Pages are written by an editorial desk, not under a personal byline. Entity home: https://indoorgolfsimulator.guide/en/about/ (`about.manifest.json`). Corrections to comms@flywheel.bz.

#### Promise
You find out whether your room fits a simulator and what a working setup costs, with every number sourced, before you spend anything.

#### Personality
The sage, in the role of a broadcast analyst: every claim comes with a figure, a unit or a clearance, and the verdict follows the number. Calm authority and short declarative sentences, no hype. It explains radar against camera without taking a seller's side and says "calculated" when nothing was measured.

#### Visual pointers
Locked "Leaderboard" broadcast direction: navy and yellow broadcast bars, Saira Condensed with Barlow, an illustrated fairway with one shot tracer, labelled as an illustration. Tokens: `design/tokens.json`. Rationale and rules: `DESIGN.md` and `design/pocs/9-broadcast-leaderboard.html`.

#### Do / Don't
Do: lead with the number or the verdict. Do: label every figure measured or calculated. Do: give imperial first with metric in parentheses on English pages. Do: keep the directory empty when no verified venue exists.
Don't: write "we tested" or "in our bay" until a documented test exists. Don't: rank products as "best" without stated criteria. Don't: present room arithmetic as certified swing clearance or structural advice.

### VOICE: Indoor Golf Simulator Guide (indoorgolfsimulator.guide)

> Loaded by /humanizer (Step 0) and the content publishing gate (drafting Step 1
> + humanizer Step 3). If absent, both fall back to generic mode.

#### 1. Identity & Register
- Voice owner / who speaks: the site, as an editorial desk ("we" only where noted in section 4). No named persona until a real author is assigned.
- Register: practitioner
- Language/locale: en (primary), plus de, es, fr, ja, ko (section 9)
- One-line essence: "The numbers first, then what they mean for your room and your budget."

#### 2. Audience
- Primary audience: home simulator builder (mixed handicap, budget-conscious)
- Reader's job-to-be-done: decide whether their space fits and what a working setup costs before buying
- Assume they know how to hold a club and what a driver is. Always explain launch monitor metrics, throw ratios and room clearances the first time they appear.

#### 3. Tone Axes (mark where this voice sits)
- Formal   ───●───  Casual
- Authority ●─────  Peer
- Serious  ──●────  Playful
- Concise  ●──────  Expansive
- Default editorial_track: factual

#### 4. Person, POV & Cadence
- Person: second person (you) for instructions, third person for products and venues. No first person until real testing exists.
- Sentence rhythm: short, declarative. Lead each section with the number or the verdict.
- Paragraph length: 2 to 4 sentences.
- Structural tics to keep: spec tables, 'measured vs calculated' labels, a one-line bottom line under each comparison. Avoid: rhetorical questions as openers, exclamation marks.

#### 5. Lexicon
- Preferred terms: clearance, hitting position, throw ratio, measured, calculated, carry, total cost of ownership, bay
- Banned phrases (beyond humanizer's generic list): "game-changer", "elevate your game", "ultimate", "tour-level accuracy" (unless quoting a spec claim and naming the source), "best" without stated criteria, "we tested" (until true)
- Capitalization & spelling rules: "launch monitor" lowercase. Exact brand casing: TrackMan, SkyTrak, Foresight Sports, GCQuad, Uneekor, Garmin Approach R10, Bushnell Launch Pro, GSPro, E6 Connect, Golfzon. Imperial first with metric in parentheses on en pages (10 ft (3.05 m)). Prices with currency and year checked.
- Domain-jargon level: medium. Use ball speed, spin rate, smash factor, carry, throw ratio, lumens. Define each once in a clause.

#### 6. E-E-A-T / Experience Claims  (anchors gate Step 7)
- Authentic experience this voice can claim: none yet. Do not write "we tested", "in our bay" or "our swing data" until a real test exists and is documented. Describe how a thing works and cite the maker's spec sheet or an independent test.
- Named author + bio source: TBD by Tom. Leave the byline as the editorial desk until a real person with a verifiable golf or AV-install background is assigned.
- Quantified credential for bios: none until assigned. Never invent handicaps, PGA status or install counts.
- Citation posture: cite manufacturer spec sheets for sensor type and published accuracy claims, retailer list prices with the date checked, and venue websites for bay prices. Mark measured vs calculated launch data explicitly.
- Original-data hooks this voice owns: the room size calculator, a dated price table of simulator packages, a venue bay-price table per city built only from venue websites (directory placeholders until real).
- "What I got wrong" angle: the common build mistake (buying the launch monitor before measuring ceiling height and hitting-position depth) is where drafts should slow down.

#### 7. Gold-Standard Examples  (few-shot anchor, highest leverage)
No published pages yet. These are target samples, replace with real published paragraphs after launch.
- Example A (target, /en/golf-simulator-room/ceiling-height/): "Measure the ceiling before you buy anything. A driver swing needs head room for the club at the top of the backswing and at the finish, so most builders plan for about 10 feet (3.05 m), and taller players often need more. At 9 feet you can usually hit irons, and a driver becomes a question of your height and swing plane. Stand where the hitting mat will go, take a slow full swing with your driver, and have someone mark the highest point of the clubhead. That number, plus a margin, is your real minimum. It matters more than any launch monitor spec."
  - Why on-voice: Leads with the action and a number, gives the metric conversion, and ends on a concrete priority.
- Example B (target, /en/golf-simulator-software/software-subscription-costs/): "Software is the cost that keeps running after the build is paid for. Some launch monitors include basic range and course access, and full course libraries typically move to an annual subscription. Before you compare hardware prices, add the yearly software fee for the platform you actually want to play, then multiply by the years you expect to keep the setup."
  - Why on-voice: Turns a buying decision into a calculation, no hype, states what to do next.

#### 8. Anti-References  (do NOT sound like)
- Retailer package copy ("the ultimate home golf experience").
- Generic AI listicles ranking '10 best simulators' without test data.
- Hype-heavy YouTube review titles.

#### 9. Other languages (de, es, fr, ja, ko)
Voice is authored in English. Each locale keeps the stance in sections 3 to 5 and adapts register, not facts.
- de: Sie-Form throughout. Sachlich, metric first (Meter, Zentimeter), prices in EUR where a local figure exists. Say "Golfsimulator", "Launch Monitor" stays English. Pages are not translations of US pages when a DACH fact differs (Mietwohnung, Keller, Lärmschutz).
- es: usted on how-to and cost pages, tú acceptable only in drills. Neutral international Spanish, metric first.
- fr: vous throughout. Metric first, "simulateur de golf", "launch monitor" may stay English on first use with "moniteur de lancement" alongside.
- ja: です/ます調. Pages cover スクリーンゴルフ as its own venue culture, not translated US content. Room sizes in meters and 畳 where it helps.
- ko: 합니다체 (formal polite). Pages cover 스크린골프 culture (brand-operated venue chains, rounds with friends, leagues) on its own terms, not translated US pages.

### STRATEGY

#### Mission
We help golfers planning a home simulator find out whether their room fits and what a working setup costs before they buy, using sourced specifications instead of retailer copy.

#### Positioning
Authority depth first: room clearances, sensor types and recurring software costs come from spec sheets and independent tests, where most build advice is written by the retailers selling the package. Speed of answer second: the number or verdict leads each section. We concede the brand and package product pages to specialist retailers, and we concede "best simulator" rankings, because the site has no hands-on testing.

#### Audiences
Home simulator builders are golfers, usually 30 to 60, with a garage, basement or spare room and a budget from a few thousand to five figures. They want to practice through winter or around family time and arrive after a tape measure and a price shock. They need room fit, compatible parts and the lifetime cost.

Venue players look for an indoor simulator venue or, in Japan and Korea, a screen golf bay. This is a secondary planned cluster: venue pages stay empty until verified records exist.

#### Competitors
Specialist retailers such as Rain or Shine Golf, Carl's Place, Shop Indoor Golf and PlayBetter own the product and package pages. YouTube build videos and r/Golfsimulator style forums answer the build questions (briefs/strategy.md).

#### What we will not do
No affiliate CTAs, fake authors, fabricated venues, invented shot measurements or untested rankings, and no paid leaderboard positions (PRODUCT.md). No claim that room arithmetic certifies safe swing clearance or a structural installation. No ja or ko page that is a translated US page: screen golf is covered on its own terms. No ad slot or listing fee goes live until Tom confirms (briefs/strategy.md).

#### Bets for the horizon
1. Win the room, enclosure and cost explainers that retailers do not answer neutrally (moves gsc_clicks).
2. Make the room size calculator and the dated package price table the reason to return (moves content_engaged).

### AUDIENCE

#### Home simulator builders
Golfers with a garage, basement or spare room who want to practice and play through winter or around family time. The trigger is an off-season, a house move or a friend's setup, followed by a tape measure and a price shock. They need room fit, parts that work together at their budget and the lifetime cost including software. Source: briefs/strategy.md ICP a, PRODUCT.md.

#### Venue players
Golfers looking for an indoor simulator venue nearby, and in Japan and Korea, players of screen golf as its own venue culture. Watch priority: the venue directory stays empty until verified records exist. Source: PRODUCT.md, briefs/site.md.

#### Excluded audiences
Not written for: shoppers who want a "top ten simulators" ranking without test data, readers who need a certified installation or structural assessment, and buyers looking for a retailer's package copy. Source: PRODUCT.md anti-references and experience, VOICE.md section 8.

```
### MONETIZATION
#### Revenue model
PRODUCT.md rules out affiliate CTAs, sponsored rankings and paid placement, and the entity manifest states the guide carries no affiliate links (about.manifest.json copy.commercialStance). That policy overrides the affiliate default in briefs/strategy.md, so the only remaining line is display ads on informational pages, kept as an idea. No line is marked core because no source gives a revenue split.
#### Disclosure rules
Label ad slots as advertising and keep them out of tables, calculators and verdicts. No fake or AI-generated reviews and no presenting a controlled site as independent (16 CFR 465).
#### Not monetised
- Affiliate links to simulator retailers and manufacturers (Rain or Shine Golf, Carl's Place, Shop Indoor Golf, PlayBetter, Bushnell) and Amazon Associates for accessories. briefs/strategy.md proposed them; PRODUCT.md and about.manifest.json forbid affiliate CTAs.
- Paid leaderboard positions or sponsored rankings. Guide order is never a paid or performance ranking.
- Venue listing fees while the directory holds no verified records.
- Any "best" ranking of products the site has not tested.
#### Display ads on informational pages
Display ads on drills and data-explained pages through Mediavine Journey once traffic meets the network minimum (briefs/strategy.md).
### KPI
#### Why these metrics
pageview_recorded is the number the site is run on while the room, enclosure and cost explainers are its first job. gsc_clicks, gsc_impressions and avg_position show whether those explainers earn visibility next to the retailer product pages. content_engaged shows whether readers use the room size calculator and the price table; the site emits only preferred_source_click today. newsletter_subscribed is kept from the template; there is no signup yet. affiliate_clicked stays at zero while PRODUCT.md rules out affiliate CTAs, and is kept because the template requires it. crawl_errors and pages_indexed are the guardrails once the site is indexed: errors must not rise and indexed pages must follow the six-language page plan.
#### Reading guide
Read pageview_recorded weekly against the target in kpi-mgmt once one is entered; none exists yet. The site is noindex today, so search keys stay near zero until launch. After launch, rising impressions with flat clicks means titles or positions need work. Expect a seasonal rise in the northern autumn and winter.
#### Review cadence
Quarterly, with the 12-month bets in STRATEGY.md.
