# hybridtraining.guide

Site grounding for agents without the hybridtraining.guide repository: its seven charter files, unchanged except that headings sit two levels lower and every term id the pinned version defines, in the frontmatter blocks too, is followed by its label from the pinned version. The YAML blocks are therefore for reading, not parsing; the repo files are the source.

### BRAND

#### Name and entity
hybridtraining.guide (also "Hybrid Training Guide"), published by Thomas Prommer and built by the WTF portfolio. Entity home: https://hybridtraining.guide/en/about/ (`about.manifest.json`). Contact comms@flywheel.bz. Sister sites: hybridathlete.guide for editorial and community, findmynextrace.com for the race calendar.

#### Promise
You get a direct answer to the training question in front of you, with the source and date beside it, and no recommendation a retailer paid for.

#### Personality
The sage, with a hero streak. It reads like the sports desk on race morning: it states the format, the date and the number, cites where they came from, and labels judgment as judgment. The hero streak is the race focus: every page points at a start line. It does not use coaching bravado, fake testing claims or checkout pressure (PRODUCT.md).

#### Visual pointers
Editorial sport magazine on cream paper, condensed uppercase headlines and one hot orange. Tokens: `design/tokens.json` (generated from `src/styles/global.css`). Rationale and rules: `DESIGN.md`.

#### Do / Don't
Do: organize the page around the athlete's decision, not the inventory. Do: cite dates, specifications and formats. Do: say plainly when something is not vetted yet, as the gym lists do.
Don't: say the team tested, raced or measured anything without a recorded source. Don't: show prices, scarcity language, bestseller badges or a checkout. Don't: add affiliate links outside the book section without a new decision.

### Voice: hybridtraining.guide

Brutalist scoreboard energy applied to editorial copy. This site sells outcomes, not vibes.

#### Binding rules (already settled, non-negotiable)

- **No em dashes anywhere, ever.** Not in headlines, decks, body copy, meta, alt text, UI strings. Recast with a comma, period, colon, or parentheses.
- **No semicolons in prose.** Split into two sentences or use a colon/comma instead.

#### Tone

- Direct address. "You" and "your," not "athletes" and "their."
- Short declarative sentences. Subject, verb, object. Cut qualifiers ("quite," "very," "really").
- Confidence without hype. State what the plan/calculator/gear does, not how amazing it is.
- No filler transitions ("Moreover," "In today's world," "Let's dive in").

#### What "specific numbers" looks like

Always prefer a real number over an adjective:

- "12-week programs by athletes who race the events you are training for. From $29." not "affordable plans for every level."
- "500+ coaches," "30+ countries," "14 languages," "8 station" — counts and prices carry the sentence.
- Price ranges use an en dash or "to": "$29–$89" or "$29 to $89," never a spaced em dash ("$29 — $89").
- Dates and venues are exact: "Stuttgart Messe · 14 Nov 2026," not "later this year."

#### Structure patterns already in use

- Eyebrow (small caps label) + two-line display headline + one-sentence deck. See `hero`, `verticals`, `gearPage` in `src/i18n/ui.ts`.
- Numbered items (`01`, `02`, `03`...) for parallel lists of products/features, not bullet points.
- CTA links end in an arrow: "Browse plans →", "Find a coach →". Keep the arrow, keep the CTA verb-first.
- Empty states (e.g. Coaches "apply to be listed") are honest about what's not built yet rather than faking content.

#### Banned constructions

- No rule-of-three lists (three-item parallel constructions used as a rhetorical device, e.g. "faster, stronger, better").
- No "not just X, but Y" or other negative-parallelism framing.
- No analogies or metaphors reaching outside training/racing. Stay in the sport's own vocabulary (splits, stations, divisions, finish times).

#### Source material this was derived from

`src/i18n/ui.ts` (hero, verticals, spotlight namespaces), `src/components/pages/Gear.astro`, `src/components/pages/Coaches.astro`, race city pages under `src/components/pages/` and `src/pages/en/`.

<!-- Added 2026-10-03 by website-grounding (draft). The prose above is unchanged. These eight sections fill the template in rules/voice-profile-template.md from the prose above, PRODUCT.md and published pages. GAP marks what only the owner can supply. -->

#### 1. Identity & Register
- Voice owner / who speaks: the site as an editorial desk, second person to the reader. Book pages carry "By Thomas Prommer, editor". Race pages credit "Race data from FindMyNextRace" instead of a person (DECISIONS.md 2026-09-28).
- Register: brand (PRODUCT.md), written at practitioner level.
- Language/locale: en source; de, fr, es, it complete public locales.
- One-line essence: "A race-day sports desk: the answer first, a number and a source behind it, never coaching bravado or a sales pitch."

#### 2. Audience
- Primary audience: race preppers getting ready for a HYROX or similar race; secondary: hybrid trainers without a race date (AUDIENCE.md).
- Reader's job-to-be-done: choose a training structure, estimate a finish time, understand a race, find equipment or pick a reference book (PRODUCT.md users).
- Assume they know running and gym basics. Always explain the station format, division weights and what a calculator estimate does not cover.

#### 3. Tone Axes
- Formal   ───●────  Casual
- Authority ●─────  Peer
- Serious  ──●─────  Playful
- Concise  ●──────  Expansive
- Default editorial_track: factual

#### 4. Person, POV & Cadence
- Person: second (you), see "Tone" above.
- Sentence rhythm: short declarative sentences, subject, verb, object, no qualifiers.
- Paragraph length: two to four sentences; the date, venue or number in the first one.
- Structural tics to keep: eyebrow plus display headline plus one-sentence deck; numbered items for parallel lists; verb-first CTAs ending in an arrow (see "Structure patterns" above).

#### 5. Lexicon
- Preferred terms: the sport's own words (splits, stations, divisions, finish times, Singles, Doubles, Relay).
- Banned phrases: see "Banned constructions" above; also "tested by our team", "best-selling", scarcity words (PRODUCT.md anti-references).
- Capitalization & spelling rules: HYROX in capitals; exact dates in the form "3 to 6 December 2026"; proper nouns and ISBNs untranslated.
- Domain-jargon level: station and division names used without apology, explained once per page.

#### 6. E-E-A-T / Experience Claims
- Authentic experience this voice can claim: GAP. No recorded testing, racing or coaching experience is on file. PRODUCT.md principle 3 forbids claiming any without a source. The entity manifest calls the founder a hybrid-sport athlete; that is unverified and was removed from the BRAND.md claims on 2026-10-03.
- Named author + bio source: "Thomas Prommer, editor" on /en/books/ (published, read 2026-10-03); race pages credit FindMyNextRace by decision.
- Quantified credential for bios: GAP.
- Citation posture: cite hyrox.com event pages, the FindMyNextRace snapshot and publisher or bibliographic records, each with a date.
- Original-data hooks this voice owns: the finish predictor and pacing calculators; the race calendar snapshot.
- "What I got wrong" angle: GAP (needs first-hand race experience on record).

#### 7. Gold-Standard Examples
- Example A (from https://hybridtraining.guide/en/races/hyrox/anaheim-2026/, read 2026-10-03): "We have not vetted HYROX-grade gyms in Orange County yet, so we list none rather than guess. The gym directory covers the cities we have checked."
  - Why on-voice: says what is not done yet, plainly, and points to what is.
- Example B (from https://hybridtraining.guide/en/books/, read 2026-10-03): "Every outbound book link currently goes to a publisher, official book site or bibliographic source and earns us nothing. We will add a paid link only after the affiliate account and exact edition are verified, with a clear disclosure beside it."
  - Why on-voice: commercial honesty stated as fact, no hedging.

#### 8. Anti-References
- Thin affiliate listicles ranked by commission; supplement and equipment stores posing as editorial; SaaS dashboards and conversion funnels; brand press releases repeated as testing; prices, scarcity and bestseller badges (PRODUCT.md anti-references).

### STRATEGY

#### Mission
We help people training for HYROX and similar hybrid races get to the start line prepared, with free plan overviews, calculators and race guides they can check against a source.

#### Positioning
Speed of answer first: readers use the site on a phone around training sessions and expect the answer before the explanation (PRODUCT.md). Locality second: every HYROX race city has its own guide with dates, venue and travel notes. Authority depth third: dates, formats and book metadata are sourced and dated. We concede identity, culture and science content to hybridathlete.guide, and we concede coaching, because the site sells no plan and claims no coaching credential.

#### Audiences
Race preppers have entered, or are about to enter, a HYROX or similar race. They need the 12-week block, a finish-time estimate, the station format and the venue facts for their city. Many are first-timers.

Hybrid trainers combine running and lifting without a race on the calendar yet. They want a plan structure, practical equipment and a short shelf of reference books, and they move to hybridathlete.guide for the science and culture.

#### Competitors
hyrox.com and its national sites own registration, results and race news. Reddit and YouTube answer most training questions. Centr and coaches.hyrox.com own coaching queries, and roxlyfe.com and hyresult.com are regional niche sites. Men's Health, Runner's World and Red Bull cover HYROX at high domain strength but little depth (strategy-work research/competitor-landscape.md, 2026-04-10).

#### What we will not do
No prices, cart, checkout, paid plans or purchase CTAs (owner decision 2026-09-28). No affiliate links outside the book section and no sponsored ranking (DECISIONS.md 2026-10-01). No science, supplement or peptide content, which belongs to hybridathlete.guide. No invented gym or coach lists. No medical, injury or nutrition advice for an individual. No `hyrox` domain or brand use that implies affiliation (strategy-work decisions D-002).

#### Bets for the horizon
1. Make the race city guides the result for "HYROX <city>" queries in the five complete locales (moves gsc_clicks).
2. Make the finish predictor and pacing calculators the reason to come back before race day (moves content_engaged).
3. Turn on disclosed book retailer links once the affiliate account and exact editions are verified (moves affiliate_clicked).

### AUDIENCE

#### Race preppers
People who have entered, or are about to enter, a HYROX or similar hybrid race. They arrive with one job: the training block, a finish-time estimate, the station format or the venue facts for their city. Many are racing for the first time. Source: PRODUCT.md users, race city pages.

#### Hybrid trainers
People who combine running and lifting without a race date yet. They want a plan structure, practical equipment and a short, honest book shelf, and they read hybridathlete.guide for the science and culture. Source: PRODUCT.md users, the /books/ design.

#### Excluded audiences
Not written for: readers looking for supplements, peptides or science deep dives (hybridathlete.guide owns these), readers who want to buy a paid plan or coaching here, and readers who need individual medical, injury or nutrition advice. Source: AGENTS.md two-site architecture, DECISIONS.md, the /books/ FAQ.

```
### MONETIZATION
#### Revenue model
The site sells nothing directly (owner decision 2026-09-28). The one authorized line is disclosed affiliate links on the book section, which are not live yet: every book link currently goes to a publisher or bibliographic source and earns nothing. No source gives a revenue split, so the book line is marked core only because it is the only permitted line.
#### Disclosure rules
The page-level disclosure is visible before the first affiliate link. Affiliate links carry `rel="sponsored nofollow noopener"` and name the retailer in their accessible name, never "buy now". Amazon's Associate statement ships with any Amazon link. No scraped or hard-coded price (docs/design/2026-10-01-book-affiliate-sections.md).
#### Not monetised
No paid training plans, checkout, cart or prices. No sponsored content or sponsored ranking, and commission never decides inclusion or order. No display ads: the cookie notice promises no advertising trackers. Race pages and calculators carry no commercial links. Gear affiliate links and paid coach or gym directory listings, both from the April launch plan, are not lines: DECISIONS.md 2026-10-01 limits affiliate links to books ("Extending affiliate monetization beyond books needs another explicit decision"), and the site sells nothing directly: a 2026-09-28 decision removed prices, paid plans and purchase CTAs, and the site carries no sponsored ranking (DECISIONS.md 2026-10-01).
#### Book retailer affiliate links
Retailer links on the /books/ section in all five locales, added one edition at a time once the affiliate account and the exact edition are verified. The retailer is not chosen and no program page was read in this run.
### KPI
#### Why these metrics
The site sells nothing directly, so pageview_recorded is the number it is run on. gsc_clicks, gsc_impressions and avg_position show whether the race city guides and calculators earn search visibility against hyrox.com and Reddit. content_engaged shows whether readers use the calculators and follow the bridge links to hybridathlete.guide (the site emits bridge_click and book_source_click today). newsletter_subscribed is kept from the template; the site has no signup form yet. affiliate_clicked measures the book retailer links once they go live and stays at zero until then. crawl_errors and pages_indexed are the guardrails: errors must not rise and indexed pages must follow the five-locale page plan.
#### Reading guide
Read pageview_recorded weekly against the target in kpi-mgmt once one is entered; none exists yet. Race pages are seasonal, so compare a city's pageviews with the weeks before its race date, not with the previous week. Rising impressions with flat clicks means titles or positions need work.
#### Review cadence
Quarterly, with the 12-month bets in STRATEGY.md, and after each HYROX season calendar update.
