# healthypregnancy.guide

Site grounding for agents without the healthypregnancy.guide repository: its seven charter files, unchanged except that headings sit two levels lower and every term id the pinned version defines, in the frontmatter blocks too, is followed by its label from the pinned version. The YAML blocks are therefore for reading, not parsing; the repo files are the source.

### BRAND

#### Name and entity
healthypregnancy.guide, founded 2026 and published by Thomas Prommer. Entity home: https://healthypregnancy.guide/en/about/ (`about.manifest.json`). Pre-launch: live with noindex.

#### Promise
A clear answer to your pregnancy question from national health guidance, and a plain line on when to take it to your midwife or doctor.

#### Personality
The caregiver, with the sage behind it. It answers first and kindly, gives one guideline figure with the body that set it, and hands the individual decision back to the reader's care team. It does not frighten, sell or replace the clinician.

#### Visual pointers
`design/tokens.json` and `DESIGN.md` (Soft Shapes, calm answer card). Brand kit in `brand/`, brand portal source in `brand-site/`.

#### Do / Don't
Do: answer in the first sentence. Do: name the guideline body in the sentence and link it. Do: end individual decisions with a check-with line.
Don't: dose supplements or medicines beyond the cited guideline. Don't: link affiliates from medical answers or sell ingestibles. Don't: publish a page as medically reviewed before a named reviewer exists.

### VOICE: healthypregnancy.guide (Calm answer card)

> Loaded by /humanizer (Step 0) and the content publishing gate (drafting Step 1
> + humanizer Step 3). If absent, both fall back to generic mode.
> YMYL property: every page is review_required. Voice never overrides medical review.

#### 1. Identity & Register
- Voice owner / who speaks: healthypregnancy.guide editorial team, second person (you); editorial we only for how the site works; medical content reviewed by a named, licensed clinician before publish
- Register: brand
- Language/locale: en (source), with de, es, fr, pt translations
- One-line essence: "Answer first, kindly, then say who to check with."

#### 2. Audience
- Primary audience: beginner (first-time pregnant people and partners)
- Reader's job-to-be-done: get a clear, safe answer to one question and know when to ask a professional
- Assume no medical background; always explain what a term means and why a guideline says what it says.

#### 3. Tone Axes (mark where this voice sits)
- Formal ────●── Casual
- Authority ──●──── Peer
- Serious ──●───── Playful
- Concise ─●───── Expansive
- Default editorial_track: factual

#### 4. Person, POV & Cadence
- Person: second person (you); editorial we only for how the site works
- Sentence rhythm: short to medium, plain words; one idea per sentence; no fragments
- Paragraph length: 2 to 4 sentences
- Structural tics to keep / avoid: Keep: direct answer in sentence one, one guideline figure with its source, a check-with line. Avoid: exclamation marks, cute euphemisms for body parts, scare statistics without context.
- Every page that touches an individual decision (exercise with a condition, medicines, supplements, symptoms) ends that section with a plain line to talk to a midwife, doctor or pharmacist.

#### 5. Lexicon
- Preferred terms: midwife, doctor, moderate activity, pelvic floor, gentle, check with, usually, most people
- Banned phrases (beyond humanizer's generic list): "mama", "bump-friendly", "miracle", "superfood", "detox", "toxins", "totally safe", "guaranteed", "eating for two" (except to correct it)
- Capitalization & spelling rules: "ACOG", "NHS", "WHO" in caps; trimester spelled out ("first trimester"); "pelvic floor" lowercase; "Kegel" capitalised (eponym); "cesarean" in en-US, "caesarean" only on UK-targeted pages; weeks written as numerals ("week 12").
- Inclusive language: default to "pregnant people" or "you"; use "women" when quoting a guideline that uses it. Never assume a partner's gender.
- Domain-jargon level: Light. Define terms like diastasis recti, gestational diabetes or pelvic girdle pain in a clause the first time.
- Hard content rules: no supplement or medicine dosing beyond what the cited national guideline states; never present animal or lab studies as human evidence.

#### 6. E-E-A-T / Experience Claims (anchors gate Step 7)
- Authentic experience this voice can claim: none yet. Do not invent midwives, doctors, births or personal pregnancies. No first-person pregnancy stories unless a real contributor with consent writes them.
- Named author + bio source: editorial team byline plus a "Medically reviewed by" line naming a real licensed reviewer (midwife, obstetrician, pelvic health physiotherapist). Do not publish a page as reviewed until that person exists and has reviewed it.
- Quantified credential for bios: the reviewer's licence type, registering body and years in practice, verifiable. Leave blank until recruited.
- Citation posture: Cite ACOG, NHS, WHO and the national body for each market directly, named in the sentence ('ACOG suggests...'), with a link. No blogs, forums or brand pages as sources.
- Original-data hooks this voice owns: side-by-side tables of what ACOG, NHS, WHO and the local body each say; the trimester helper; a dated "last reviewed" stamp per page.
- Reviewer: no named reviewer. Neither the repo nor the live site names a clinical reviewer for this site (checked 2026-10-03).
- "What I got wrong" angle: not used. Instead use "what changed in the guidance" when a body has updated advice, with both dates.

#### 7. Gold-Standard Examples (few-shot anchor, highest leverage)
Verbatim from the published homepage (https://healthypregnancy.guide/en/, read 2026-10-03). The guide pages it links are not published yet; replace these with guide paragraphs once those pages ship and are reviewed.
- Example A (from https://healthypregnancy.guide/en/): "Pregnancy advice is most useful when it supports the care you receive from your midwife or doctor. Use these guides to understand nutrition and movement topics and prepare questions about your own circumstances. A general meal plan or exercise list cannot determine what is appropriate for your pregnancy."
  - Why on-voice: plain words, hands the individual decision back to the care team.
- Example B (from https://healthypregnancy.guide/en/): "MedlinePlus explains that nutrient needs change during pregnancy and warns that excessive supplement intake can be harmful. Its pregnancy nutrition guidance recommends using vitamin and mineral supplements advised by a healthcare provider. More products are not automatically a better plan."
  - Why on-voice: names the source body in the sentence, gives its guidance, and ends with one plain line.

#### 8. Anti-References (do NOT sound like)
- Clinical patient-leaflet coldness with no direct answer.
- Fear-led "10 things you must never do while pregnant" listicles.
- Wellness influencer tone that sells detoxes, teas or "safe" herbs without guideline support.
- Forum threads presented as evidence.

#### Other languages
Voice is authored in English. DeepL translations inherit it, then a native reviewer localises guidance to that market's health body (for example IQWiG/gesund.bund.de for de, Haute Autorité de Santé and ameli for fr, SNS/Ministerio de Sanidad for es, SNS Portugal or Ministério da Saúde Brasil for pt). Never translate a US or UK recommendation as if it were the local one.
- de: du, warm und klar; bei medizinischen Aussagen sachlich; Quellen: gesund.bund.de, IQWiG, DGGG-Leitlinien, Hebammenverband.
- es: tú, cercano y tranquilo; neutral Spanish; name the local health body.
- fr: vous, bienveillant et simple; sage-femme is the default professional to mention.
- pt: você, acolhedor; decide pt-BR or pt-PT per page and name the matching health body.

### STRATEGY

#### Mission
We help pregnant people who want to stay active get a clear answer from national health guidance, and know when to take the question to their midwife or doctor.

#### Positioning
Speed of answer first: every page answers in its first sentence, in the calm answer card format. Authority depth second: each answer names ACOG, NHS, WHO or the local body and links it, and side-by-side tables show where the bodies differ. Locality third: translations are localised to each market's health body rather than translated as they are. We concede breadth (ACOG, NHS, Mayo Clinic and large parenting publishers cover more topics) and community features.

#### Audiences
Active pregnancy movers are pregnant people, often in the first or second trimester, who exercised before or want to start and are unsure what is safe. Is-it-safe checkers look up a specific food, drink or product in the moment and want a fast answer with its source. Postpartum returners are in the months after birth and want to rebuild the pelvic floor and return to exercise. Partners read alongside all three.

#### Competitors
ACOG, NHS and Mayo Clinic patient pages, large parenting publishers (head terms at keyword difficulty 31 to 49), and social media and forum advice. Source: reports/site-strategy/healthypregnancy.guide.json, ICP option a risks.

#### What we will not do
No supplement, vitamin or medicine affiliates, and no affiliate links from medical answer boxes. No dosing beyond the cited national guideline. No diagnosis of symptoms. No animal or lab studies presented as human evidence. No invented midwives, doctors or pregnancy stories. No translation of a US or UK recommendation as if it were the local one. No personalised ad targeting on health conditions. Sources: VOICE.md sections 5 and 6, briefs/strategy.md.

#### Bets for the horizon
1. Build the exercise and pelvic floor cluster first (about 20,000 monthly English searches in the plan) and merge the duplicate postpartum pelvic pages (moves pageview_recorded, gsc_clicks).
2. Recruit a named, licensed clinical reviewer so pages can carry "Medically reviewed by" and come off noindex (moves pages_indexed).
3. Scale the low-difficulty "X and pregnancy" long tail page by page (moves gsc_impressions, gsc_clicks).

### AUDIENCE

#### Active pregnancy movers
Pregnant people, often in the first or second trimester, who exercised before or want to start and are unsure what is safe. The trigger is a positive test, a first midwife appointment, or new pelvic or back pain. Partners often read with them. Source: briefs/strategy.md ICP a.

#### Is-it-safe checkers
Pregnant people checking whether a specific food, drink or product is safe, usually in the moment. They want a yes, no or it-depends answer and the body behind it. Medicine and supplement questions need pharmacist or physician review before any page ships. Source: site-strategy report ICP b.

#### Postpartum returners
People in the weeks and months after birth who want to rebuild the pelvic floor and return to exercise. A watch segment: three near-duplicate postpartum pelvic pages are on hold until merged (briefs/HOLD.md). Source: site-strategy report ICP c.

#### Excluded audiences
Not written for: anyone seeking dosing, a diagnosis or a replacement for their care team; supplement or medicine buyers; minors. Clinicians are not addressed as an audience. Source: STRATEGY.md section What we will not do.

### MONETIZATION

#### Revenue model
Display ads on informational exercise and pelvic floor pages, starting with Journey by Mediavine and moving to Mediavine or Raptive as traffic grows, plus affiliate links for non-ingestible products the pages naturally mention: exercise balls, support belts, maternity activewear, pillows. Nothing is live: no ad slots or affiliate links go live until the owner confirms (briefs/strategy.md). The strategy brief is an assumed default pending review, and no ad network or affiliate program is integrated, so every line is an idea.

#### Disclosure rules
A clear disclosure sits next to every affiliate link (FTC Endorsement Guides). Affiliate modules sit below the clinical content and never inside a medical answer. No personalised ad targeting on health conditions, and ad density on medical pages stays below the network default.

#### Not monetised
No supplement, vitamin, probiotic or medicine affiliates. No sponsored medical answers. The paid clinician-built movement programme (strategy option c) was not chosen and is not a line.

#### Display ads
An idea. Journey by Mediavine accepts sites from 1,000 monthly sessions. Display becomes meaningful at ad-network scale, likely 6 to 12 months for a new YMYL domain (site-strategy report).

#### Amazon Associates, non-ingestible products
An idea for exercise and comfort products named on the exercise and pelvic floor pages. Program page read during strategy research. No commission copy on the site until the program is verified.

#### Babylist affiliate
An idea. Babylist runs its program on impact.com and published terms vary by source, so the terms must be confirmed inside impact.com first.

### KPI

#### Why these metrics
pageview_recorded is the primary: display ads, the planned main line, pay on reach. gsc_clicks, gsc_impressions and avg_position show whether the exercise cluster wins against ACOG, NHS and large publishers once the noindex comes off. content_engaged shows whether readers get past the answer card to the guideline detail. affiliate_clicked measures the planned Amazon line. newsletter_subscribed comes from the template; the site has no newsletter form yet. crawl_errors and pages_indexed are the guardrails, and pages_indexed also shows whether held duplicate pages stay out of the index.

#### Reading guide
Before launch every search metric is zero by design. After launch, read weekly pageview_recorded against the `(site)` target in kpi-mgmt once one is entered. A rise in affiliate_clicked from medical pages would break the disclosure rules and needs checking.

#### Review cadence
Monthly until launch and the first reviewer is in place, then quarterly against the 12-month bets in STRATEGY.md.
