# eggfreezing.guide

Site grounding for agents without the eggfreezing.guide repository: its seven charter files, unchanged except that headings sit two levels lower and every term id the pinned version defines, in the frontmatter blocks too, is followed by its label from the pinned version. The YAML blocks are therefore for reading, not parsing; the repo files are the source.

### BRAND

#### Name and entity
eggfreezing.guide, an independent patient guide to egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation), published by Thomas Prommer. Entity home: https://eggfreezing.guide/en/about/ (source of the entity facts: `about.manifest.json`). Every page is marked as pending medical review until a named reviewer is appointed.

#### Promise
Give you the real numbers on process, cost and odds, with what each number measures, and leave the decision to you and your own doctor.

#### Personality
The caregiver, with a sage's care for sources: a calm, well-read companion who explains gently and does not hurry anyone. It shows what evidence measures (per egg, per thaw, per transfer, per live birth) and never promises a baby. It carries no fear-based age clock and no clinic sales funnel.

#### Visual pointers
Design tokens: `design/tokens.json`. Locked direction ("Gentle Path"): `DESIGN.md` and `design/DIRECTION.md`. Product stance: `PRODUCT.md`.

#### Do / Don't
Do: say what a number measures, in which country, in which year and age band. Do: end with the questions to take to the consultation. Do: make pending medical review visible. Do: cite SART, HFEA or a peer-reviewed study for outcomes.
Don't: use "biological clock", "take control of your fertility" or any promise of a future baby. Don't: invent a clinician endorsement or a medical credential. Don't: tell the reader what to decide. Don't: use clinic marketing pages as evidence for outcomes.

### VOICE: eggfreezing.guide (Calm guide)

> Loaded by /humanizer (Step 0) and the content publishing gate (drafting Step 1 + humanizer Step 3). If absent, both fall back to generic mode.

#### 1. Identity & Register
- Voice owner / who speaks: the eggfreezing.guide editorial team, first-person plural where a voice is needed, third person for facts
- Register: practitioner
- Language/locale: en (primary), with de, es, fr, pt translations (see section 9)
- One-line essence: "A calm, well-read companion who gives you the real numbers gently and leaves the decision with you."

#### 2. Audience
- Primary audience: mixed, weighted to women 30 to 40 considering elective freezing (ICP a)
- Reader's job-to-be-done: decide whether, when and where to freeze, and what it will really cost
- Assume they know: that egg freezing exists, that it involves injections and a clinic procedure, that age matters. Always explain: what a number measures (per egg, per thaw, per transfer, per live birth), which country a price or rule applies to, and what the reader should ask their own doctor.

#### 3. Tone Axes (mark where this voice sits)
- Formal ───●──── Casual
- Authority ──●──── Peer
- Serious ──●───── Playful
- Concise ───●─── Expansive
- Default editorial_track: factual

#### 4. Person, POV & Cadence
- Person: second person (you) for guidance, first-person plural (we) for how the site sourced something
- Sentence rhythm: mixed length, mostly plain declaratives, one short sentence to land a key point
- Paragraph length: 3 to 5 sentences
- Keep: numbered steps that mirror the design's pebble path, a short 'questions to take to your consultation' box. Avoid: exclamation marks, rhetorical questions stacked in openings
- Never tell the reader what to decide. Lay out the trade-off and name who makes the call (the reader, with their clinician).
- YMYL rule: every page is review_required. Success rates only from SART, HFEA or peer-reviewed studies, always with year and age band. Legal and storage rules are dated and cited per country.

#### 5. Lexicon
- Preferred terms: "eggs" over "oocytes" in body copy (define oocyte once), "cycle", "retrieval", "odds of a live birth", "your doctor" or "your clinic"
- Banned phrases (beyond humanizer's generic list): "biological clock", "take control of your fertility", "empowering", "insurance policy for your future", "freeze your fertility", "peace of mind" as a selling point, "journey", any promise of a future baby
- Capitalization & spelling rules: AMH, OHSS, IVF, ICSI, SART, HFEA, hCG, GnRH. "Egg freezing" lowercase mid-sentence. US spelling on /en/ ("anesthesia", "fertilization") except when quoting UK bodies.
- Domain-jargon level: low. Define AMH, antral follicle count and vitrification in a clause the first time they appear on a page

#### 6. E-E-A-T / Experience Claims (anchors gate Step 7)
- Authentic experience this voice can claim: none personal. The site has no clinician on staff and no first-hand patient narrator. Do not write "when I froze my eggs" or imply a medical credential.
- Named author + bio source: editorial team byline plus a named medical reviewer (reproductive endocrinologist or fertility nurse). The reviewer is not yet appointed: no YMYL page goes indexable until one is named on the page with credentials that can be verified.
- Quantified credential for bios: to be filled from the reviewer's real licence, board certification and years in practice. Never invent.
- Citation posture: cite primary sources inline (SART national summary, HFEA reports, ASRM/ESHRE guidance, peer-reviewed cohorts, national laws). No aggregator blogs, no clinic marketing pages as evidence for outcomes.
- Original-data hooks this voice owns: the egg freezing cost calculator, the eggs-by-age tool, dated cost-by-country tables built from published clinic price lists.
- "What I got wrong" angle: use documented patient-side surprises instead of invented anecdotes, e.g. storage fees that run for years after the cycle, or a first cycle that retrieves fewer eggs than hoped. Source them.

#### 7. Gold-Standard Examples (few-shot anchor)
- Example A (drafted for /en/egg-freezing-age/, pending review): "Most people ask about age before they ask about anything else, and the honest answer is that the number on your birth certificate matters less than what happens after. Eggs frozen in your early thirties are more likely to be chromosomally normal than eggs frozen at 40, so each one carries better odds. That does not make 36 too late. It means you may want more eggs, which can mean a second cycle. Your AMH result and an ultrasound count give a rough idea of how many eggs one round might produce. Take both numbers to your consultation and ask what they mean for you specifically."
  - Why on-voice: answers the fear first, gives the mechanism without jargon, ends with a concrete next step for the consultation.

#### 8. Anti-References (do NOT sound like)
- Clinic marketing copy ("give yourself options", smiling stock photos, success rates without denominators)
- Wellness influencer tone that treats egg freezing as self-care
- Dense medical-journal prose that buries the answer
- Generic AI health listicles

#### 9. Other Languages
Voice is authored in English. Translations run through DeepL, then a native-speaker pass on register. Medical terms follow the local patient-facing standard, not a literal translation.
- de: Sie, never du. Calm and precise, slightly more formal than English. Use "Eizellen einfrieren" and "Social Freezing" (the term German readers search), "Kinderwunschzentrum" for clinic. Legal points (storage rules, Kassenleistung) are dated and cited per the German framework. Advertising-adjacent wording stays clear of Heilmittelwerbegesetz patterns: no testimonials, no promised outcomes.
- es: tú for Spain-facing pages, the norm for patient-facing health content there. "Congelación de óvulos", "clínica de reproducción asistida". Keep sentences shorter than a literal translation produces.
- fr: vous throughout. "Congélation d'ovocytes" as the primary term, "autoconservation" where French law and ABM sources use it. Measured, no exclamation marks.
- pt: Brazilian Portuguese, você. "Congelamento de óvulos", "clínica de reprodução assistida". Costs in BRL with the date; do not convert US prices.

### STRATEGY

#### Mission
We help people considering elective egg freezing understand the process, the real costs and the limits of the odds, with sourced numbers and no pressure, so they can prepare questions for their own clinical team.

#### Positioning
Authority depth first: outcome figures come only from SART, HFEA or peer-reviewed studies, always with year and age band, and every page says what a number measures. Locality second: prices, legal limits and storage rules are dated and cited per country. We concede speed of answer and any individual advice. Sources: `PRODUCT.md`, `briefs/site.md`, `VOICE.md`.

#### Audiences
Elective planners are people, often in their early 30s to about 40, with no fertility diagnosis who are not ready for children but worry about waiting. They want the total cost, what insurance or an employer pays, how many eggs to aim for and what to ask a clinic. Cross-border planners compare costs and rules abroad. Assume they know egg freezing exists and that age matters; explain AMH, antral follicle count and vitrification on first use.

#### Competitors
Clinic marketing copy with success rates that have no denominator. Wellness-influencer content that treats freezing as self-care. Dense medical-journal prose that buries the answer. Sources: `VOICE.md` section 8, `briefs/strategy.md`.

#### What we will not do
No clinic sales funnel, no fear-based age clock, no promised babies. No invented clinician endorsement or medical credential. No individual medical advice. No page goes indexable until a named, verifiable medical reviewer appears on it. Sources: `PRODUCT.md`, `VOICE.md` sections 4 and 6.

#### Bets for the horizon
1. Publish the cost hub, the calculator and the eggs-by-age tool as the entry points for cost and age questions (moves pageview_recorded).
2. Build the success-rate pages from SART and HFEA data with year and age band on every figure (moves gsc_clicks).
3. Appoint a medical reviewer so the pages can go indexable (moves pages_indexed).

### AUDIENCE

#### Elective planners
People with no fertility diagnosis who are not ready to have children and want to know whether, when and where to freeze eggs. They need the real total cost and what insurance or an employer benefit pays. They read at home or while preparing for a consultation. Source: `briefs/strategy.md`, `PRODUCT.md`.

#### Cross-border planners
Readers comparing the cost and legal rules of freezing abroad with freezing at home. The abroad cluster is drafted, with country pages for Spain and the Czech Republic. Source: `briefs/site.md`, `content/STATUS.md`.

People freezing eggs before medical treatment are named in `briefs/site.md` and `PRODUCT.md`. The site-charter rules forbid a health condition as a segment dimension, so the pages serve them without a segment of their own.

#### Excluded audiences
Not written for: readers seeking a clinic referral or a sponsored clinic listing, and anyone expecting individual medical advice or a promised outcome. Source: `PRODUCT.md`, `VOICE.md` section 8.

### MONETIZATION

#### Revenue model
The only plan on file is an assumed default in `briefs/strategy.md`: display ads on informational pages, plus free tools as traffic engines and a paid downloadable workbook. Nothing is live or signed, and the file holds no figures. Health pages get restricted, non-personalised ad demand, so yield is expected to be low.

#### Disclosure rules
Any paid product is disclosed as the site's own. Symptom pages (OHSS, side effects) carry no ads above the fold, and category blocking keeps fertility-clinic and supplement ads off them. Source: `briefs/strategy.md`.

#### Not monetised
No clinic, lab or vendor pays for placement or referrals. No affiliate links to at-home hormone tests or fertility financing. No clinic sponsorships. Source: `briefs/strategy.md` (options b and c were not chosen), `PRODUCT.md` anti-references.

#### Display ads on informational pages
An idea, not approved. Ads run on cost, age, retrieval and success-rate pages with category blocking, once traffic clears a network threshold.

#### Paid clinic-consultation workbook
An idea, not approved. A downloadable set of questions to ask, a quote-comparison sheet and a storage-fee planner. No catalog KPI key exists for own-product sales yet.

### KPI

#### Why these metrics
The site is closed and pre-launch, and its revenue idea is display ads, which follow reach, so pageview_recorded is the primary. gsc_clicks, gsc_impressions and avg_position show whether the cost, age and success-rate queries find the pages. content_engaged shows whether the calculators and guides are used. newsletter_subscribed stays from the template, though the site emits no signup event. affiliate_clicked stays because the template requires it and must read zero: no referral or affiliate income is planned. crawl_errors and pages_indexed are the guardrails, and pages_indexed also tracks how many pages the medical-review gate has released.

#### Reading guide
Read pageview_recorded weekly against the `(site)` target in kpi-mgmt once one exists. A flat pages_indexed is expected until a medical reviewer is named, so read it against that gate, not against traffic.

#### Review cadence
Quarterly, with the 12-month bets in STRATEGY.md.
