# bestsmartglasses.guide

Site grounding for agents without the bestsmartglasses.guide repository: its seven charter files, unchanged except that headings sit two levels lower and every term id the pinned version defines, in the frontmatter blocks too, is followed by its label from the pinned version. The YAML blocks are therefore for reading, not parsing; the repo files are the source.

### BRAND

#### Name and entity
bestsmartglasses.guide, an independent guide to smart glasses (AR, audio and camera), founded and published by Thomas Prommer, a technology executive and former President, Technology at Huge Inc. This is a publisher fact, not a testing or hands-on claim. Entity home: https://bestsmartglasses.guide/en/about/ (source of the entity facts: `about.manifest.json`).

#### Promise
Tell you what a pair of smart glasses does for a use you already have, with the manufacturer's dated evidence, before you compare models.

#### Personality
The sage: precise, independent and direct. It brings a noisy category into focus by separating the categories first (display, camera, audio, AI) and comparing products only inside one. No hype, no launch excitement, no hands-on claim nobody earned.

#### Visual pointers
Design tokens: `design/tokens.json`. Approved direction ("Focus"): `DESIGN.md` and `design/DIRECTION.md`. Product stance: `PRODUCT.md`.

#### Do / Don't
Do: answer in the first two sentences, then give the condition that changes the answer. Do: name the spec and say what it changes in use. Do: date every price and spec to a manufacturer page.
Don't: rank brands you have not sourced. Don't: write "we tested" or "hands-on" without a human who did. Don't: use affiliate language or launch hype. Don't: invent product data, authors or credentials.

### VOICE: Best Smart Glasses Guide (bestsmartglasses.guide)

> Loaded by /humanizer (Step 0) and the content publishing gate (drafting Step 1
> + humanizer Step 3). If absent, both fall back to generic mode.

#### 1. Identity & Register
- Voice owner / who speaks: the site, third person for facts, second person (you) for the reader. No named author yet; the byline is added later by a human.
- Register: product (independent buyer explainer)
- Language/locale: en (source language; de, es, fr, pt translated, see section 9)
- One-line essence: "Answer first, trade-off second, no hype."

#### 2. Audience
- Primary audience: mixed: practical first-time buyers and tech-curious comparers
- Reader's job-to-be-done: decide whether a pair of smart glasses fits a use they already have, and which kind
- Assume they own a smartphone and have seen smart glasses in an ad. Always explain display, camera, audio and AI features in terms of what the wearer can do, and define FOV, nits and waveguide on first use.

#### 3. Tone Axes (mark where this voice sits)
- Formal ───●─── Casual
- Authority ●────── Peer
- Serious ──●──── Playful
- Concise ●────── Expansive
- Default editorial_track: factual

#### 4. Person, POV & Cadence
- Person: second person (you) for the reader, third person for products. Never 'we'.
- Sentence rhythm: Short declarative sentences. Lead each section with the answer in one or two sentences, then the condition that changes it.
- Paragraph length: 2 to 4 sentences.
- Structural tics to keep / avoid: Keep: 'If X, then Y' decision lines, one comparison table per page. Avoid: rhetorical questions as openers, lists of three adjectives, closing summaries that repeat the page.

#### 5. Lexicon
- Preferred terms: smart glasses (category), camera glasses, AR glasses, display glasses, 'without your phone', 'in the lens'
- Banned phrases (beyond humanizer's generic list): 'game-changer', 'revolutionary', 'the future is here', 'must-have', 'sleek', 'cutting-edge', 'we tested', 'hands-on' (unless a human author actually did it), 'best smart glasses of the year', 'buy now'
- Capitalization & spelling rules: Ray-Ban Meta (hyphen, capital B), Meta AI, XREAL (all caps, as the company writes it), Android XR, Gen 2 (capital G), AR and AI in caps, FOV spelled out on first use (field of view). Model names exactly as on the manufacturer page.
- Domain-jargon level: Low to moderate. Name the spec, then say what it changes in use.

#### 6. E-E-A-T / Experience Claims (anchors gate Step 7)
- Authentic experience this voice can claim: None claimed until a named author exists. The voice can show explanation and sourcing, not ownership or testing.
- Named author + bio source: none yet. Do not invent authors, reviewers or credentials. A human adds the byline before publish.
- Quantified credential for bios: to be filled by the human author when assigned. Leave blank rather than guess.
- Citation posture: Cite the manufacturer's product or support page for every spec and price, with the date checked. Retailer listings only when dated. No aggregator spec sites.
- Original-data hooks this voice owns: Dated spec and compatibility tables built from manufacturer pages. A changelog line on each page when a spec or price changes.
- "What I got wrong" angle: Common buyer mistakes the sources support: assuming a display on non-display models, missing the prescription range, forgetting the app requirement.

#### 7. Gold-Standard Examples (few-shot anchor, highest leverage)
No pages are published yet. These are drafted anchors written for this proposal; replace them with verbatim paragraphs from the first two published pages.
- Example A (drafted for /en/meta-glasses/ray-ban-meta-glasses/): "Ray-Ban Meta glasses do three things without a screen: they take photos and video from a camera in the frame, play audio through small speakers near your ears, and answer spoken questions through Meta AI. Everything else runs through the Meta AI app on your phone, which handles setup, imports your media and shares clips. There is no display in the lens on the standard models. If you want to see notifications or directions in front of your eye, that is a different product line with a display, and it costs more. Decide which of those three jobs you would use weekly before you compare frames."
  - Why on-voice: answer in the first sentence, defines what is and is not included, ends with a decision instruction, no hype.
- Example B (drafted for /en/ai-glasses/ai-glasses-display/): "A display changes what the glasses are for. Without one, you talk to the glasses and they talk back. With one, you can read a message, a caption or a turn arrow without taking out your phone. The cost is weight, battery and price. Check the field of view, which is how much of your vision the image covers, and whether the display shows in one eye or both. Those two numbers decide whether it feels like a notification or a screen."
  - Why on-voice: defines a spec by what it changes, short sentences, second person.

#### 8. Anti-References (do NOT sound like)
- Tech press launch hype ('the iPhone moment for glasses').
- Affiliate listicles ('10 best smart glasses you can buy right now').
- Manufacturer marketing copy restated as fact.
- Forum-style speculation about unreleased products presented as news.

#### 9. Other Languages
Pages in de, es, fr and pt are translated from English with DeepL, then edited by a fluent reader. Keep the same facts, structure and tone axes. Register per language:
- **de:** Sie in body copy, du nowhere. Technical and dry, like a c't buying explainer. Keep 'Smart Glasses' as the category term where German search uses it (Datenbrille for AR display models). Label any paid link 'Anzeige' next to the link.
- **es:** tú, direct and neutral Latin American Spanish that also reads fine in Spain. Keep sentences short, avoid anglicisms except product names.
- **fr:** vous, precise and a little formal. Use 'lunettes connectées' as the category term, 'lunettes à réalité augmentée' for AR.
- **pt:** você, Brazilian Portuguese. Use 'óculos inteligentes' as category term. Keep the plain, practical cadence.
- All languages: keep product names, units and model numbers exactly as the vendor writes them. Do not translate UI labels that the reader will see in English inside the software or app; give the English label and a translation in parentheses on first use.

### STRATEGY

#### Mission
We help practical buyers decide which kind of smart glasses fits a use they already have, by answering first and showing the trade-off, with dated manufacturer evidence behind every spec.

#### Positioning
Speed of answer first: each page leads with the answer in one or two sentences, then the condition that changes it. Authority depth second: specs and prices cite the manufacturer's own page with the date checked. We concede brand rankings and anything hands-on until a named author exists. Sources: `PRODUCT.md`, `VOICE.md`, `briefs/site.md`.

#### Audiences
Meta-curious first buyers have seen Ray-Ban Meta glasses on a friend or in an ad and are deciding whether to buy, which generation, and whether a display model is worth the jump. Category comparers are early adopters weighing display, camera, audio and AI glasses against each other. Prescription lens wearers need to know whether a frame takes their lenses; the 25 prescription guides were released from hold on 2026-09-25 for them. Assume all three own a smartphone and have seen smart glasses in an ad.

#### Competitors
Manufacturer sites such as meta.com and ray-ban.com, which control the category narrative on branded queries. Affiliate listicles of the "best smart glasses" kind. Tech-press launch coverage. Sources: `briefs/strategy.md`, `VOICE.md` section 8.

#### What we will not do
No affiliate language and no ranking of brands we have not sourced. No hands-on or "we tested" claim until a human author has done it. No invented authors, reviewers or credentials. No speculation about unreleased products presented as news. Sources: `briefs/site.md`, `PRODUCT.md`, `VOICE.md`.

#### Bets for the horizon
1. Get the five-language guide set indexed and keep the manufacturer-sourced spec tables current (moves pageview_recorded).
2. Win the Meta glasses question cluster on use-case answers, since branded head terms lean toward the manufacturer (moves gsc_clicks).
3. Keep the prescription guides accurate as Rx ranges change, each with a dated changelog line (moves content_engaged).

### AUDIENCE

#### Meta-curious first buyers
Practical buyers who have seen Ray-Ban Meta glasses and are deciding whether to buy a pair, which generation, and whether a display model is worth the jump. The trigger is often a price drop, a new generation or a gift. They want to know what the glasses do without a phone or subscription. Source: `briefs/strategy.md`, `PRODUCT.md`.

#### Category comparers
Early adopters comparing display, camera, audio and AI glasses by use. They are tech-curious but not brand fans. Source: `PRODUCT.md`, `VOICE.md` section 2.

#### Prescription lens wearers
Glasses wearers who need to know whether a smart frame takes their prescription, in what range, and how to order it. A watch segment: the prescription guides exist, and no data yet shows how large this group is. Source: `briefs/HOLD.md`.

#### Excluded audiences
Not written for: readers who want a ranking of brands, affiliate-style "buy now" lists, or coverage of unreleased products as news. Source: `briefs/site.md`, `VOICE.md` section 8.

### MONETIZATION

#### Revenue model
The only plan on file is an assumed default in `briefs/strategy.md`: display ads on explainer, pillar and comparison pages, with a short newsletter that could later carry labelled sponsor slots. Nothing is live, nothing is signed, and the file holds no figures.

#### Disclosure rules
Label ads as ads. Mark newsletter sponsors "Sponsored" in the US and "Anzeige" or "Werbung" in the German edition. Use a consent banner for ad cookies in EU languages. Source: `briefs/strategy.md`.

#### Not monetised
No affiliate links or affiliate language, and no manufacturer or retailer pays for placement or ranking. Source: `briefs/site.md`, `PRODUCT.md` anti-references.

#### Display ads on guide and comparison pages
An idea, not yet approved. Slots go on explainer, pillar and comparison pages and never above the first answer. Slot count per page stays capped so ads do not clash with the Focus direction.

#### Labelled sponsor slots in a use-case newsletter
An idea, later than ads. It needs a newsletter list first, and the site emits no newsletter signup yet.

### KPI

#### Why these metrics
The site is closed and pre-launch, and its revenue idea is display ads, which follow reach, so pageview_recorded is the primary. gsc_clicks, gsc_impressions and avg_position show whether the use-case answers are found, especially on the Meta glasses queries. content_engaged shows whether readers get past the first answer. newsletter_subscribed stays from the template and covers the newsletter idea, though the site emits no signup event yet. affiliate_clicked stays because the template requires it and must read zero: the site uses no affiliate language. crawl_errors and pages_indexed are the guardrails across five languages.

#### Reading guide
Read pageview_recorded weekly against the `(site)` target in kpi-mgmt once one exists. A nonzero affiliate_clicked is a policy breach. Rising pages_indexed with flat gsc_clicks means the pages are indexed but do not match the query.

#### Review cadence
Quarterly, with the 12-month bets in STRATEGY.md.
